 Trinity Guilds and Groups

Trinity Altar Guild is a dedicated group of individuals, both men and women, whose purposes are to

  • help its members in their spiritual growth
  • assist the clergy
  • prepare for worship in the church
  • provide suitable furnishings and decorations for the Altars and Sanctuaries and to take due and reverent care of their appointments.
New members undergo an extended period of training overseen by mentors assigned to help them become familiar with Trinity Altar Guild procedures. Becoming a member of the Altar Guild is an excellent way to learn more about the Episcopal Church. If you feel called to make this your ministry, contact Jean Wilson ( bjwtww@att.net or 817-923-0444) for more information.

Women of Trinity offers programs that spiritually enlighten our members and meetings that provide an opportunity to enjoy the fellowship of the women of Trinity. The Group meets once a month between September and May, generally in the Parish Hall, and is open to all interested women and their guests. For more information, contact Vicki Blanton at 817-295-9838 or bvickib12@aol.com.

CoDA
A CoDA group meets every Sunday at 11:00 a.m. next door to the church in Trinity House. CoDA is a twelve-step program for all those who are working on recovery from codependency.

Daughters of the King is an Order for women of the Episcopal Church organized in 1885. Every daughter pledges herself to a lifelong program of prayer, service and personal evangelism, dedicated to the extension of Christ’s kingdom and to the strengthening of the spiritual life of her parish. We are women dedicated to serving our Lord and building up His Church.

Next time you are sitting in a pew, look where the visitation cards are placed. Along with them you will find a little blue card. If you have a private concern or prayer request, please fill out this card and place it in the collection plate. These will be picked up by a Daughters of the King member and placed on their confidential prayer list. If you wish to have the name also on the church’s regular prayer list, sign the back of the card. The Daughters' list is kept confidential.

Click here for more information about Daughters of the King, check the kiosk in the parish hall for a Daughters information tract or call either Anita Beckman at either 817-919-6280 or adbeckman@earthlink.net or Celia Ledbetter at 682-551-5692 or cledbetter@academicplanet.com.

The Contemporary Music Group provides accompaniment for Trinity's 11:30 worship service with a blend of traditional gospel, folk-gospel, and contemporary Christian music. The band is an eclectic group of dedicated musicians, composers, and vocalists, and features guitars, electric bass, keyboard, violin, recorder, percussion, and a simply fabulous choir. Traditional aspects of the Rite II service, such as the Gloria, Lord's Prayer, and Pascha Nostrum, are also set to music and add a profound sense of energy and intimacy to the service.

Every Sunday for almost twenty years, Trinity has held a true folk mass, filled with music and warmth that many members find irresistible.  Whether you're a cradle Episcopalian or a new arrival to the church, this worship service is a not-to-be-missed experience. While Episcopal tradition lies at the core, the 11:30 service provides a sense of comfort and community in a more informal folk gathering. It is fundamentally a Rite II service. As you enter the Sanctuary, however, you'll find grey binders beside the programs table. These binders contain selected portions of the Rite II liturgy, as well as the service music we use. In short, everything you'll need in one package! Altar rails and kneelers are removed, and at the beginning of the Eucharist the congregation processes as a group to the chancel area and participates in Holy Eucharist standing around the altar.

While quite a few Episcopal churches conduct once-a-month or occasional folk services, an ongoing, weekly service with a deep tradition is a delightful rarity. If you've not experienced it, you owe it to yourself to attend. Moreover, if you enjoy good folk music, and like to sing and/or play a musical instrument, consider joining the Contemporary Music Group. Contact Bob Hunt (becshebob@aol.com) or Paul Warren (pwarren653@aol.com) for more information.

The Seniors Group offers activities and opportunities for ministry for some of the older people in the congregation. Each month they gather together for a social occasion, and invariably this occasion includes lunch at a local restaurant. But they've been known to hop on the Trinity Railway Express for an all-day outing to Dallas to tour museums and parks. They have also hosted dances, with Bill Roe providing the music from his extensive collection of Big Band era recordings.

Besides the social side of this group, they have put in place a Call-a-Friend Program, with small groups of members who are living alone contacting the members of their group on a regular basis. In addition to the benefits of friendship and frequent contact with others, this program provides a safeguard in the event of a health problem or an accident in the home. For more information contact Fr. Walt Kesler at 817-423-3050 or keslerw@juno.com.

The Needlepoint Committee helps design and implement various stitching projects around the church. So far this committee has stitched the kneelers at the main altar, the seats and backs of the three chancel chairs, the Gospel Book cover, and the cushion in the Columbarium. More recently they have concluded work on needlepoint projects in Saint Mary Chapel, including five kneelers and the seats and backs of the Bishop's and Priest's chairs. The reverse side of three of the kneelers in the chapel are of Noah's ark, and will be used during chapel services for the preschoolers. Also underway are "Reserved" signs for use at the ends of pews. If you are interested in joining this group, call Tom Wilson at 817-923-0444 or (twwbjw4874@att.net.
