Habitat for Humanity 2008

The construction of this year’s home is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 23. We'll be building a house for Li Perry at 2831 Lee Avenue. It's easy to sign-up - just fill out this Sign-up Form!

Trinity has a fine reputation of generosity not only in dollars donated, but in volunteer workers as well. We are told that our folks often form the lion’s share of a day’s crew. Granted, work days scheduled mid-week are tough for a lot of folks, but a few people are willing to take a couple days of vacation to work at Habitat. You are certainly encouraged to do so. For those of you who have never had the privilege of helping at a Habitat site, Eben encourages you to signup this year for a trial run. There is something for everyone, no matter your skill level or experience, and it is a wonderfully rewarding ministry. Signup begins on Rally Sunday, September 7. If you can’t volunteer for a work day, please consider helping out by bringing lunch to the hungry volunteers one day. There will be a signup for that as well.

For more information, you may contact Eben at 817-851-8211, trinityops@sbcglobal.net, or just catch him at church at your convenience.

Habitat for Humanity is an international organization that provides safe, decent, and affordable housing. Habitat volunteers work side-by-side with Habitat homeowners to build houses that are sold with no-interest mortgages.

Families qualify on the basis of need, willingness to partner with the Habitat program, and ability to make mortgage payments that average between $300-$350 monthly (including taxes and insurance) in the Fort Worth area. Families must work at least 300 hours of "sweat equity" - labor on their own or other Habitat homes. The Fort Worth chapter has built over 160 homes since 1989. Habitat also helps the community as a whole by attracting responsible citizens to distressed neighborhoods and returning derelict properties to productive use through private initiative.

Trinity has a very active group of people involved in Habitat for Humanity. We have sponsored or co-sponsored the building of several houses and have been know to show up on a Saturday just to help out, even though the house might not be one we are currently sponsoring.
