Becoming a MemberFirst of all, we are delighted that you have been with us for worship. Our church membership is made up of folks with all sorts of different backgrounds and church experiences. We would love to welcome you to our midst.
Listed below are a few of the categories into which you might place yourself. We have tried to suggest a path to follow for each of these. If you have further questions, please contact the church office (817.926.4631) or speak with one of the clergy.
Currently listed as a member of another
Episcopal Church (either in Fort Worth or elsewhere)
Transferring your membership to Trinity can be accomplished one of two ways: (a) You call the church where you are currently listed as a member and you ask them to transfer your membership to Trinity. (Address is Trinity Episcopal Church, 3401 Bellaire Dr. S., Fort Worth, TX 76109.) or
b) Call our church office and request that we ask your previous church to transfer your membership to Trinity.
Baptized and confirmed as a member of the
Episcopal Church, but currently inactive
Contact our church office and ask that you be entered as a member in our parish records. (Instead of listing the church from which you are transferring, we make the notation, “previously inactive.”)
Adult baptized member of another Christian denomination
Contact our church office and ask that you be notified when our next series of “Inquirers’ Classes” will start up. These are usually on four consecutive Wednesday evenings and are taught by the clergy of the parish. Topics include Old Testament, New Testament, ways of reading the Bible, church history, Episcopal Church polity, and current “issues” in the Episcopal Church. After all this, if you are still interested, then you would be presented to the Bishop for Confirmation (or Reception) during his next visit to Trinity. As a courtesy, we also suggest that you notify your previous church of your plans.
Never really active in any church before
We suggest that you take your time in deciding what you would like to do. Join us regularly for worship and fellowship. Speak with some of our members about their experience at Trinity. Enter into a dialogue with one of our clergy about the Christian faith and about the sacrament of baptism. Also we recommend an 18-page section of the Prayer Book for your thoughtful reflection. Pages 845-862, entitled “An Outline of the Faith commonly called the Catechism,” is a surprisingly readable, comprehensive summary of the teachings of the Episcopal Church. One of our series of Inquirers’ Classes would be appropriate, also. Then, when you are ready, we would love to have you baptized and presented to the Bishop for Confirmation.
A few other things to do
1. Please fill out a
personal information form so that we have the information we need in order to serve you well. Also we need this in order to be able to have our new members (whether official members or not) listed in the church directory. (The personal information form may ask for information you would rather not disclose. Please fill out only the information you wish to have on file in the church office.)
2. We think that part of worshiping at Trinity and being involved in the life of the parish includes supporting the church financially. We hope that you will wish to do this. In the fall of each year we have a pledge campaign during which members of the church pledge their financial support for the following calendar year. There are pledge materials
available in the church office year-round; please feel free to pledge for the remainder of the current calendar year as well.
