Men's Retreat

God’s Yes to Being a Man
Trinity Men's Retreat
January 26-27
Facilitator: The Rev. Martin L. Smith

Join us for a retreat exploring the gift and the challenges of male identity today in the light of the gospel. Christian spirituality is a way of living out the dynamic expressed by Paul in his key injunction, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your consciousness.” (Rom. 12:2)

Today our sense of what is means to be a man is undergoing many challenges. What stereotypical conventions about masculinity in our culture are unmistakably showing their inadequacy now? What do current anxieties about male predatory sexual behavior tell us? Can we even imagine sacred and spirited maleness?

Drawing on wisdom found both in spirituality and psychology, we will share insights about how we acquire our own sense of male identity, and reflect together about our vocation to pioneer a non-conformist manhood shaped by our experience of Christ and the desire of God.

  • Friday, Jan. 26: meal, presentation by Martin, and prayer in the Parish Hall starting at 6:30 p.m.
  • Events on Saturday, Jan. 27, will be off-site (Botanical Research Institute of Texas) from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Both day’s events are free and include meals, but pre-registration is required!
