Children to host a seder on Sunday, March 21
The children will sponsor a pot luck Seder in the parish hall during the Adult forum/Sunday School hour on Sunday, March 21. (Sunday School will run a bit long.) All are invited; no tickets are needed, only a covered dish and a donation for the Presbyterian Night Shelter. Please register for this event by signing up on the sheet on the table in the Parish Hall by the kitchen or by sending an email to Erin Harvey at rxharvey@sbcglobal.net (include name, phone number, how many attending and what you will bring) or call her at 817-691-1797.

Art Charrow from temple Beth-El will be here to help lead the Seder and will also help us celebrate our beginnings as children of God. The meal will follow. This is a mitzvah to keep Seder, but also a mitzvah to donate help to others. While historically, Mitzvah is considered to be a term related to Judaism, anyone in any religion can perform a Mitzvah. When Mitzvah is considered to be an act of human kindness, it transcends all religions. While they may not refer to it by that name, they can still perform an act of kindness for another person.

If you need ideas or want to try a new Seder recipe, check out this website. Finally - help is needed to put up tables and chairs the night before and to help clean up. Please consider doing one or the other, or both!

Seniors Group announces upcoming plans
The March outing for the Seniors Group is lunch at Riscky's Barbecue, 140 E. Exchange Street (in the Stockyards), Wednesday, March 10, at 11:30am. After lunch, folks can head home or can hang around the Stockyards for various interesting activities. Some of these are visits to the Stockyards Museum or the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame, and browsing in many interesting shops (all within easy walking distance). You are advised to arrive a little early, since parking will be difficult during the cattle drive (each day at 11:30).

Carpooling is recommended. To this end, please come to the church parking lot at 10:30am, and we'll have cars leaving for the Stockyards by 10:45. There is no need to RSVP, since our reservation for 20 is flexible. Riscky's will do separate checks.

Mark your calendars for these future events:

  • Thursday, April 8 - trip to Dallas on the TRE to visit the Dallas Museum of Art and the Nasher Sculpture Center
  • Wednesday, May 12 - lunch at Gloria's in the old Montgomery Ward complex on 7th Street
  • Thursday, June 10 - lunch at the Kimbell Art Museum, followed by a potpourri of museum options (Kimbell, Modern and Amon Carter)

For more information on any of these events or to become more involved in the planning of activities, contact Walt Kesler.

New use for old bikes
Are you tired of those old and unused bikes taking up space in your garage? If so then get rid of them by giving them to someone who could use them. Let Glenn Harwell know, and he will come to your house and pick them up. The bikes will be taken to the Message Peddler. He is physical therapist here in town that takes old and unused bikes (no matter what the condition) and restores them a little so that they can be given to people who don't have a bike but want to ride as part of their rehabilitation. A bike shop in the Mid-cities donates parts to help him with costs. You will be donating your bikes to a good cause and they won't end up in landfill or continue to take up space at your house.

Try GoodSearch
Trinity is now set up as an eligible charity on the search engine/web site GoodSearch. This function actually uses the Yahoo search engine so it works quite well. If you use Good Search and/or its related function, GoodShop, a portion of the ad revenue, or in the case of GoodShop, a portion of the price of goods purchased goes to the charity you select. It doesn't amount to a lot per use but it does add up. Check it out at www.goodsearch.com.
