Vestry Response to the Statement of the Bishop and Standing Committee, issued June 19, 2007

On June 19, the Bishop and the Standing Committee of the Diocese of Fort Worth issued a statement concerning certain actions of the Executive Council of The Episcopal Church. A copy of this statement is available on the Diocesan website.

On Monday, June 25, the vestry of Trinity voted to issue a response to this statement, and on Monday, August 13, a response was approved for publication. Below is the response that was approved by the vestry.

Resolution of the Vestry - 08/13/07

In response to point one of the Statement of the Bishop and Standing Committee of the Diocese of Fort Worth, issued June 19, 2007, Trinity Episcopal Church respectfully repeats that it disagrees with any attempt to seek Alternative Primatial Oversight.

In response to point two of the same statement, it is Trinity’s position that the National Church and the Diocese of Fort Worth should be working together in such a way that there is no need for either to declare the actions of the other invalid. Trinity continues to value its integral association with the Diocese of Fort Worth, the Episcopal Church, and the Anglican Communion, and we regularly pray for Jack our Bishop, Katharine our Presiding Bishop, and Rowan, Archbishop of Canterbury, with the hope and expectation that our prayers will help to preserve the unity of the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Communion.
