Abundant Life: Giving 2024

The U.S. Surgeon Geneal recently issued a report entitled Our Epidemic of Loneliness and Isolation, which stresses the importance of being in a culture of connection. Through our shared faith and worship at Trinity Episcopal Church, we form connections with each other, while strengthening our connection to God. Trinity is where we create abundant life. We touch each other’s lives in joy, sorrow, support, care, and compassion. Trinity is us together

Through ministry and service, Trinity is a community that invites us to engage with each other and people beyond our walls. The origin of the word “community” is the Latin communis, which is composed of com, meaning “together,” and munis, meaning “ready to be of service.” Being equipped for service means we serve in relationship with each other as stewards of all that we are fortunate to have.

Trinity has celebrated one year as part of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, which is already providing expanded connections throughout the Episcopal Church as well as additional programs and resources supporting our work as a parish.

We ask you to reflect on our Trinity community and your intention to offer financial commitment that supports the church. As we shared in May 2023, we achieved a balanced budget in 2023 because the diocese gave us a one-year abatement on the required assessment of at least $100,000. This enabled us to restore the associate rector position as well as to meet the cost of other essential ministries and programs. The other good news is that the new assessment will still be considerably less than it was under the previous diocese. Keep in mind that the extraordinary clergy and staff who serve us so well are the most important and our largest expense comprising 63% of the budget. The 2024 the budget needs to absorb the cost of that assessment before any other increases in expense.

In the current year, recorded statements of intent amounted to $695,000 and comprised 68% of the budgeted income. In 2024 we need to increase that amount by at least 10%. Please give thoughtful and prayerful consideration as you complete the enclosed card or the online pledge form on which you are asked to state your financial intention for 2024.

With appreciation for you and the Trinity community,

Your Stewardship Team
