Reaching Out

Trinity Reaching Out Ministry Group

I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35

Trinity Reaching Out (TRO) strives to follow the example of Jesus Christ by reaching out to love and serve those in need. Using the Trinity Episcopal Church Core Values as our guide, we endeavor to inform, encourage, and promote parish-wide participation by reaching out to our local communities and beyond. We welcome partnerships that demonstrate love and service in Christ's name by providing funds, goods, or services, and by facilitating volunteer opportunities.

Do you know of a 501c3 non-profit doing God’s work in our community and beyond that we might partner with? Trinity Reaching Out awards grants to non-profits that promote Christ’s love through service and community. Applications for 2025 TRO grants will be available soon. Applicants must be non-profits that welcome and serve all people.

If you know of a non-profit that needs emergency funding now, please complete the TRO 2024 Emerging Needs application. Grant amounts range from $50 to $2,000 per Emerging Needs grant.

Current Ministry Partners

The following non-profits have received funding, donations and/or volunteers from Trinity.

4Saints Episcopal Food Pantry in east Fort Worth serves the nutritional needs of those in need with dignity and humility. In July 2020, Trinity joined the 4Saints’ Board of Directors as a sustaining member. Dozens of Trinity volunteers work the weekly Friday and monthly Saturday 4Saints food distribution events. Trinity donates funds to purchase food, and hosts food drives to help restock the 4Saints pantry. Trinity also collects winter hats and gloves, plus underwear and socks for 4Saints clients.

DRC Solutions works to provide crucial services to move people out of homelessness and into housing in Tarrant County. Trinity is helping to fund the purchase of a truck for the DRC Outreach Team to reach homeless encampments in deeply wooded areas. The DRC Outreach Team members help people complete assessments for housing, gather documentation required for housing eligibility and connect them with housing interventions within Tarrant County. Trinity also assembles bags of travel-sized toiletries for people to use at the Day Resource Center.

Habitat for Humanity is a Christian organization that works to build affordable and safe housing. The Habitat homeowners work alongside volunteers to build their new homes. Trinity supports Habitat with funds and volunteers at two Cowtown Brush Up events, when volunteers help to paint Habitat houses.

Laundry Love provides laundry assistance to those in need, helping to restore dignity, respect and self-esteem to the individuals they serve. In 2021, Laundry Love provided more than 10,000 free loads of laundry to underserved families in Tarrant County by hosting monthly free laundry events at a local laundromat. Trinity helps to fund the expenses of the free laundry days.

Opening Doors for Women in Need (ODWIN) is a faith-based nonprofit providing services for women and their children rebuilding their lives, especially women released from prison. Trinity is a collaborating partner, donating funds for ODWIN’s educational and life skills programming, as well as donating Christmas gifts for clients and their families.

Since 1997, Pathfinders has worked to bridge the gap from poverty to self-sufficiency. Programs include mentoring, financial literacy and training, pen pals with inmates, book clubs for families, and support for veterans. Trinity helps to fund Pathfinder programming including financial coaching, mentoring and a client Christmas party.

Presbyterian Night Shelter is the largest provider of services to Tarrant County’s homeless population. Trinity helps sponsor the Women and Children’s facility by donating Journey Home Baskets filled with cleaning products and kitchen supplies for clients moving into a new home. Additionally, Trinity has purchased sheets and blankets for the shelter, and donates Christmas gifts each year for children living at the shelter.

Trinity funds theological education at Brite Divinity School, The School of Theology in Sewanee, Virginia Theological Seminary, and Seminary of the Southwest in Austin.
